 **Significance of Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar**


**1. Religious and Spiritual Importance:**  

- **Hinduism**:  

  - **Mount Kailash**: Revered as the abode of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, it symbolizes spiritual enlightenment and cosmic power. Pilgrims undertake the **Kailash Mansarovar Yatra** seeking liberation (*moksha*).  

  - **Lake Manasarovar**: Believed to be created by Lord Brahma's mind (*manas*), bathing in its waters cleanses sins and grants liberation.

  - **Mount Kailash**: Known as *Ashtapada*, it is where the first Tirthankara, Rishabhadeva, attained *moksha*.

  - **Mount Kailash**: Considered the "Nine-Story Swastika Mountain," it is the spiritual epicenter of Bon, associated with founder Shenrab Miwo.

- **Kora (Circumambulation)**:  

  - A 52-km trek around Mount Kailash, performed by devotees to purify karma. Completing it 108 times ensures enlightenment.  

  - Lake Manasarovar’s circumambulation (*parikrama*) is also spiritually significant.

    - Its pyramid-like shape symbolizes the link between earth and heaven.
